Notes From Pastor Pete

The Season of Lent

Pastor Pete's

Ponderings

On Easter Hope

We will soon celebrate the glorious good news of Jesus' resurrection on Easter Sunday Morning. The choir, organ, and brass all help to proclaim the good news with stirring hymns and will assist the congregation in singing some great Easter Hymns. Thanks to everyone who will help with both the Easter Sunrise and Festival Services. It will be a great breakfast in between the services. Easter Hope means that because Christ lives, we will live too! Both now and forever.

There are seven Sundays in our Easter Season and each one presents a different view of Christ's resurrection and what it means for our faith and life. The adult choir will present a special choral cantata on April 22nd. We will observe "Soil and Water Stewardship" on the last Sunday in April The hymns will all speak of God's creation and his good gifts of land, water and people. Easter Hope means praying for favorable weather for our crops and livestock. Our farmers and ranchers need our prayers every day.

Grace has had its Parish Study with the Support to Ministries people. Now we await the presentation of the name of a potential candidate to interview as our next resident pastor. Easter Hope means that regardless of the shortage of pastors in SD, God will provide new pastoral leadership for congregations who are searching for new pastors.

Remember our church here in your daily prayers, as well as the other 15-25 South Dakota congregations who are searching at this time.

Remember to pray for the Bishop election-process in our Synod. Everyone is invited to meet the candidates at 1:00 PM on April 28th at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown.

Because Jesus lives, we can face tomorrow with hope and confidence. Because Jesus lives, all fear is gone. Because Jesus lives, life is worth living. Easter Hope means praying for peace and a stable democratic government in Iraq. It includes prayers for our nation and military. The world is a scary place right now and it needs our prayers everyday. Pray for peace and ask God to lessen world tensions.

Easter Hope to everyone,
Interim Pastor Gene Peterson
