Church Council Meeting Minutes
February 6, 2007

Members Present: Dawn Hrncir, John Rasmussen, Vicki Schaunaman, Julie Nelson, Dave Staub, Lyle Wolf, Jeff Gregg, Michelle Nelson, Fred Surmeyer, Sue Fischer, Neal Nelson, Tracey Lehrke, Pastor Gene Peterson

Meeting called to order by Chairman John Rasmussen at 7:00pm

MSC Jeff Gregg/Lyle Wolf to approve the agenda with the ratification of the use of the facility for a wedding.

MSC Fred Surmeyer/Michelle Nelson to approve the minutes for January 2, 2007 as printed.

Reports:

Pastor Peterson reported on the five interim ministry tasks or dynamics for congregations. (See attached handout)

Property and Management:

The painting project in the fellowship hall is progressing, the house project is progressing. They are looking at outside projects of sidewalk and landscaping for summer.

MSC Lyle Wolf/Neal Nelson moved to have the 40 black chairs in the fellowship hall recovered by Independent Upholstery at a cost of approximately $573, with the money coming out of the Repair and Maintenance fund.

Congregational Life:

Lenten services will be held at 7pm, with Good Friday services being held in the evening with consensus of the council.

Financial Report:

MSC Jeff Gregg/Sue Fischer to approve the financial report.

Parish Ed and Youth:

Sweetheart Breakfast to be held Feb. 11. The youth will be helping with the Iverson benefit Feb. 25. The youth are selling fruit and will be doing the Lenten soup and bread suppers.

Care of Persons:

Task force meeting was held Feb.2 Benefit for John and Kerry Iverson was organized for Feb. 25. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Roberts County Chapter 30613 will match up

to $800. Youth will help serve. Tickets are being sold for $5, for those who are unable to attend, but would like to donate.

New Business:

  • MSC Fred Surmeyer/Vicki Schaunaman to approve the use of facilities by Thrivent for March 20,2007 6:30pm and for the wedding of Megan German and Duran Derby on September 22,2007 4pm with no reception.
  • MSC Jeff Gregg/Sue Fischer to appoint Marcia Peterson as Head Organist and Tressa Schmidt as the financial secretary.
  • A unanimous ballot was cast for Michelle Nelson and Vicky Schaunaman to serve on the nominating committee along with Deb Pageler and Doris Kemnitz from the congregation.
  • Welk-Rau grant applications are due the end of February. MSC Fred Surmeyer/Neal Nelson moved to apply for the grants for the sidewalk project. Dawn Hrncir, Sue Fischer, and Tracey Lehrke will write up the applications.
  • The call committee has met twice at this time. The essentials that have been identified with their priority level have included:

1. worship leadership priority 5 out of 5

2. youth and young adults 4 out of 5

3. preaching 4 out of 5

4. teaching youth 4 out of 5

  • MSC Dave Staub/Fred Surmeyer move to approve the IRS reporting for Pastor Peterson.
  • Lutheran Outdoors Capital Funds Campaign information provided to council members.
  • MSC Fred Surmeyer/Jeff Gregg move to approve the budget for Pastor Clara

from Wilmot Lutheran on the contingency it is reviewed by Lyle Wolf

  • MSC Fred Surmeyer/Sue Fischer to appropriate funds for a new kitchen stove.
  • Discussion of delegates for the Synod Assembly June 1 and 2, 2007. We will vote

at the March Council meeting.
